House of Celebration

2020 | Mosman Sydney | Created with Rhino, Vray and Autocad

The House of Celebration provides a unique event space that seamlessly flows from sand onto water allowing people to take full advantage of the surrounding beauty of Chinaman’s beach.

The design includes a beach cafe and bar with indoor and outdoor seating, allowing people to sit, relax and immerse themselves in the serenity of the site. The design additionally provides a space that can facilitate formal events such as parties and weddings. In this case the cafe may be utilised soley as a bar and mingling area, whilst the larger function room is used for formal dinning. The generously sized deck also allows for the hosting of outdoor ceremonies. The pier may be utilised as a lookout point, aisle, or place for photos.

The dynamic roof of the House of Celebration is inspired by the lively geometries of the rocks that border the beach. The light steel framing of the building contributes to the appearance of a floating roof. In combination with the tall ceilings, the building is a well lit and impressive space to occupy.
